Giving Back

Giving Back

Paramount Pictures has a long and proud tradition of giving back.  Our corporate social responsibility program is focused on four key initiatives:  supporting public education; protecting the environment; combating HIV/AIDS; and promoting volunteerism.  By offering employee engagement opportunities, coupled with financial and in-kind contributions, Paramount supports numerous local, national, and global non-profit organizations.

E-Waste & Cell Phone Recycling

Each year, employees turn in hundreds of items including old VCRs, telephones, computers, televisions & other electrical equipment.  The safe recycling of these items prevent hazardous materials from entering our landfills.  In celebration of Earth Day, the Green Action Team organized a cell phone recycling drive on the lot.  Collection bins were placed at the main studio gates and food service locations, collecting dozens of old phones & chargers.

Green Volunteering

In coordination with the Paramount Volunteer Crew, employees spend hundreds of volunteer hours working on various environmentally friendly projects, including mulching & harvesting at a community garden, cleaning up the beach and the LA River, and planting trees at local schools.

The Season of Giving

Each year during the holiday season, Paramount partners with
a local non-profit organization for a holiday giving drive.  Last year, the studio joined with Aviva Center, a nonprofit that provides treatment to at-risk youth and their families.  Employees were able to “adopt” a teen girl enrolled in Aviva’s high school program.

Thousands of Hours Served!

Members of the Paramount Volunteer Crew give thousands of hours to projects throughout our community. These activities range from serving meals at the Ronald McDonald House to helping students complete their FAFSA(financial aid) forms; from cheering on athletes at the Special Olympics to picking up trash and leaves in a neighboring community garden.

More than 30 volunteers, including many employees’ daughters went to Project Angel Food, to pack breakfast deliveries, make jewelry for fundraisers and decorate birthday bags for homebound clients, in honor of National Women & Girls HIV/AIDS Awareness Day.

Paramount volunteers joined the staff of AIDS Project LA in Baldwin Hills as they hosted an open house and HIV testing event in honor of National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day.  While some volunteers distributed flyers and information about the clinic’s services, others welcomed guests and ushered them through a tour of the newly renovated facility.

2014 AIDS Walk LA

Paramount Pictures has been a proud sponsor of AIDS Walk LA since the event’s inception in 1985, providing support and a team every year.  This year we continued the 30-year tradition with our largest team to date - 250 Paramount Pictures and Viacom Media Networks employees, their families, friends, and pups.

Thanks to a fantastic Leadership Committee, honorary captain Amy Powell and our volunteers!  Paramount raised nearly $25,000 and was, once again, named among the top ten fundraising teams.

October | Welcome Back

As the school year began at Le Conte Middle School (LCMS) and Helen Bernstein High School (HBHS), Paramount employees and their mentees kicked off this year’s program with workshops focused on getting to know each other.

Small groups at LCMS improvised Halloween stories as they learned their partner’s names, likes, dislikes and sense of humor.  Once everyone added a piece to the story, they presented their best Halloween scare for the room.

LCMS | Your Life's Movie

The mentoring program at Le Conte Middle School’s second session took students through a look at what their life's movie would include.  Asking questions like their film's title, defining moments and where the "story" ends, let mentors and mentees share their goals and experiences to create storyboards they could share.

LCMS | Being of Service

Students and mentors created holiday wreaths for patients at Children's Hospital Los Angeles.   They wrote special notes on leaves, paper flowers and ribbon to bring cheer and encouragement to the young patients.
